Jun 3, 2010 Tooth Kink Meets Ilia Belorukov «Heads And Tails» at CDBaby (mp3). In May of 2008 Tooth Kink (Salnikov and Alexei Borisov) met Ilia Belorukov (Dots and Lines, Wozzeck and others) to record «Heads & Tails». Belorukov is a young saxophonist from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. He works in the direction of free improvisation, free-jazz, noise and electroacoustic music. Ilia practices an experimental approach of sound extraction on different types of saxophones (alto, tenor and baritone) and on flute (inc. fluteophone). In his compositions and improvisations you can find out influences of John Zorn, Derek Bailey, Mats Gustafsson, Evan Parker and other masters of improvised music. By now he has managed to release plenty albums and collaborate with a number of jazz/impro/electronic musicians as well as paricipate in some festivals.
«Heads & Tails» is a two-part suite recorded in a real time and later produced by Salnikov. It repesents a wide and versatile palette of genres and subgenres, still retaining noise tinge. All three contributors are tightly intertwined in this gripping, psychedelic and fluid work, which wouldn’t leave a listener indifferent. Genuine bounty for an experimental music lover.

Was recorded within a small breaks in the functioning theatre when grand piano was available. All is recorded with Shure radio mic. Played once. Only 10th track has a post-production as wohd (Thai flute) was added. Year 2003.

Sept 15, 2009 The label from Croydon Mrs Vee releases a joint album of MOX and Pitch «Intoxicated Divinity». Pitch is Petr Smirnov (also Aevum Spiritus). The tracks on the album don’t belong to one style (all music is electronic and experimental, though) — there’s things of dub with kraut-rock bias, Eno-ish instrumentals, glitch, downtempo, dark-ambient, house and more. The cover uses the original picture by Petr Smirnov.

May 28, 2009 The new long-awaited album of Poostosh «Herbarium» is out now on CDBaby (MP3). It is diverse palette of styles (post-rock, ambient, electronica, trip-hop, with elements of noise, dub, neoclassic and free improvisation), united by cinematic, slightly pensive mood. «Herbarium» is called so because of heterogeneity of «songs», which can be compared to miscellaneous leaves in the album, still being belonged to the family of trees. Trying to avoid non-alive metaphors here, only thought of diversity and warm and innermost feeling that herbarium is capable to conjure up. «... This leaf I picked up in the park where I met her, and this — I sat by the river, contemplating...». So tracks were created — one was captured in some magic jam, another — recorded layer by layer and meticulously mixed then, next — cut from previous sessions and so on. All compositions are united by Poostosh sense of music — thoughtful, spatial, tender and experimental. Physical CD is on its way!

Dec 12, 2008Poostosh 2002 has just appeared on CDBaby as MP3s. It’s actually the first Poostosh album(Andrey Gavrilov haven’t played in the group yet). Misha «MOX» Salnikov and Andrey Kovalenko with a support of friends started recording their improvisations in 2002 (guitar, flute, percussion etc) with using mixer, MD and tape players as playing instruments as well. Here you can listen to the album conjuring up associations with such groups as Controlled Bleeding, Rapoon and The Hafler Trio — dark, post-industrial, noisecore, ambient, pagan, psychedelic, dubby «songs».

The intent isn’t necessarily to be graphic or shocking, but to simply show versions of what people think constitutes «sex».
It could range from the obvious porn samples and 70’s funk to more abstract references.
